See developing thermal faults before they become outages
Exertherm uses permanently installed sensors to monitor critical electrical connections and joints continuously. Real-time condition data and alerts help maintenance teams move from periodic inspection toward predictive, condition-based maintenance.
Bus Duct
Continuous monitoring of critical joints, tap-off points and end connections.
LV Switchgear
Monitoring at incomers, bus couplers, feeders, cable terminations and shipping splits.
MV Switchgear
Early warning at critical medium-voltage joints and inaccessible connection points.
Motor-Control Centres
Drawer and bucket monitoring for incoming and outgoing power terminations.
Dry Transformers
Temperature monitoring at tap-change connections, coil terminations and LV joints.

Continuous Thermal Monitoring
Detect Heat Before It Becomes Failure
Continuous thermal monitoring for critical bus duct joints—helping identify developing hotspots early, reduce unplanned outages and support predictive maintenance.
Bus duct joints are critical connection points where vibration, thermal expansion, ageing and connection deterioration can create abnormal heat. Eaton Exertherm provides continuous temperature monitoring at these joints, helping maintenance teams identify developing hotspots before they lead to equipment damage or unplanned power loss. The permanently installed monitoring system provides continuous visibility rather than relying only on periodic thermal inspections, making it suitable for both new and existing bus duct installations.
How It Works
Thermal sensors are installed at selected bus duct joints and connected to the Exertherm monitoring system. Temperature data is continuously analysed to identify abnormal conditions and changes between monitored connection points. When a developing hotspot is detected, the system provides an early-warning alarm and identifies the affected joint, allowing maintenance teams to investigate and take corrective action before the condition becomes critical.
EXERTHERM BUS DUCT MONITORING
Exertherm temperature and alarm data can be integrated with wider facility-monitoring systems through Modbus RS485 communication.
Exertherm Bus Duct Monitoring is suited to facilities where electrical continuity and system reliability are essential, including:
